Protection Presets
Choose the build profile that balances transformation depth and output overhead.
The preset is selected when creating a script and can be changed later. Changing the preset queues a new build; it does not replace the current ready build until the new one is ready.
| Preset | What the compiler changes |
|---|---|
| Max | Uses the deepest bitwise transformations and the largest injected-junk target. Includes the compiler's anti-hook protection block. |
| Balanced | Uses the middle transformation depth and junk target. This is the default. |
| Fast | Reduces transformation depth and injected junk, and skips the anti-hook protection block to keep the generated runtime leaner. |
All three presets compile through Luaward's custom VM path. The compiler preprocesses Luau input, builds a prototype tree, remaps opcodes for a build, serializes the result, and emits the runtime wrapper.
Fast mode
Fast mode is a separate setting from the preset. It adds an additional lightweight source transformation and affects the generated artifact, so changing it queues another build.
Choosing a preset
Start with Balanced. Use Max when protection depth matters more than output size and startup overhead. Choose Fast when a script needs a leaner build and you accept the reduced protection transforms. Test each result in the executor and environment your users run.
Luaward does not promise that one preset prevents every form of runtime inspection or modification.
