Device Binding and Resets

Learn when a license key binds to a device and how owners can reset it.

A license key becomes bound to the executor-provided device identifier on its first valid use. If a later run presents a different identifier, Luaward returns KEY_HWID_LOCKED until the binding is reset.

Configure self-service resets

Project settings include:

  • Allow visitor reset: whether a visitor may request a reset from the key page.
  • Reset cooldown: the number of days between visitor resets.
  • Allow cloned HWID: whether the project accepts the configured cloned-device behavior.

The project owner can also reset a key from the Dashboard or through API v3. A reset clears the stored identifier and the next valid run can bind the key again.

Reset through API v3

curl -X POST "https://luaward.com/v3/projects/PROJECT_ID/users/reset-hwid" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_DEVELOPER_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"user_key":"YOUR_LICENSE_KEY"}'

The endpoint requires a developer API key that belongs to the same project.
